Due to a sustained period of continued growth, OCU Group now have a requirement for an experienced SHEQ Advisor to join our North West team. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the advisor will form an essential part of a team and be responsible for providing SHEQ advice and support to Projects and Operational teams in the northwest area.

This post holder will offer expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive Health & Safety culture. This represents a key role in supporting the business to identify and control not only occupational Health & Safety risks but Environmental Impacts and Quality related Issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the business objectives to assist in driving change and improvement.
  • Provide administration and expertise support to Contracting and Operational teams as necessary.
  • Logging and distribution of incoming SHE and quality related communications.
  • Provide feedback to the Sub Contractor and Supplier SHEQ compliance database.
  • Review and audit office and site based systems of work along with Controlled Files and Documents.
  • Produce required reports and statistics in line with timescales.
  • Investigate incidents and agree actions to prevent further occurrence.
  • Undertake company inductions for new operatives and staff members.
  • Ensure Non-conformances are dealt with appropriately and closed out in within agreed timescales.
  • Support the training plan and help identify ongoing training needs.
  • Liaise with client s SHEQ personnel and take an active part in client forums.

Skills and Experience

  • Professional qualification - NEBOSH Construction Certificate or general.
  • Excellent Communication Skills (Verbal, Written & Face to Face).
  • A good understanding of behavioural safety.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to gain in-depth knowledge of Company Policies, Procedures and Operational needs.
  • Presentation Skills and ability to assist in delivery of training.
  • Mentoring and support to Operational Teams.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
