Summary:
This position supports the HR Consulting division overall, and specifically the Compensation practice, by assessing client needs and developing and effectively implementing solutions that meet those needs. Autonomously and within a team, completes and leads multiple client projects. Acts as primary interface with clients within areas of expertise.

Duties:
  • Utilizes in-depth HR knowledge and subject matter expertise (compensation and other) to create and deliver solutions for clients
  • Leads projects by creating project timelines and deliverables; ensures that project expectations are met or exceeded
  • Delivers exemplary service to clients and team members by acknowledging and responding promptly
  • Develops custom proposals based on client needs (as applicable)
  • Completes competitive market benchmarking, analysis and assessment using accepted compensation theory and principles. Creates and reviews salary range(s)/structures using job descriptions, market data comparison and internal equity analysis; calculate cost impact for implementation based on organizational goals and objectives (compensation philosophy); advise accordingly
  • Prepares and delivers presentations for client review/approval, including executive management
  • Evaluates effectiveness of various compensation programs and practices, including assisting clients with implementation and evaluation of their salary administration program, incentive pay plans (short and long term).
  • Applies compensation theory to day-to-day workplace experience, providing practical solutions.
  • May provide guidance and direction to new or less experienced consultants
  • Builds strong professional relationships with clients and creates opportunities to expand services based those relationships and the quality of service delivered.
  • May provides senior generalist level HR services to clients as needed

Education/Certifications:
  • BA or MA (or equivalent related experience) plus seven to ten years of practical experience at a senior business partner level, with specialization in compensation OR 3 or more years of experience as a senior compensation analyst
  • CCP or similar certification a plus

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (i.e., use of macros, databases, sophisticated formulas) and intermediate level MS Office suite skills (overall)
  • Must possess strong math/analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal – ability to adapt information and content/tone depending on the audience and to all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge/use of Power BI or similar tool helpful
  • In addition to senior level HR generalist or business partner experience, at least three years’ experience evaluating, designing and delivering compensation programs
  • Knowledge of base pay and incentive compensation principles
  • Knowledge of executive compensation plans is a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with audience appropriately
  • Ability to interact at all levels of an organization
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills; ability to collaborate, influence and build trust
  • Effective organizational skills to maintain and manage a portfolio of clients
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to balance a diverse “portfolio” of projects and clients, meetings deadlines, and adjusting priorities as conditions change while maintaining a high level of client services and product quality.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to “read” the client and/or situation.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to independently self-navigate in various office and other work settings. On occasion may involve varying and unsteady terrain -e.g. touring a client facility; assessing jobs/work flow at a client site. Although this is largely a sedentary role, there is also routine standing, operating a computer, various office equipment, reaching and lifting files, opening cabinets, and bending as necessary. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear.

Travel:
Travel to client site is expected for this position. Typically, travel is within driving distance, including occasional overnight travel; sometimes air travel is required.
