Hardware Debug Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Role needed is a Hardware Debug Engineer.

Required to perform fleet debug and fault isolation capabilities using remote/autonomous debug capabilities to ensure efficient and non-impactful debug operations.

Implement end to end debug solutions for @scale systems, following step by step faul isolation flows.

Collaborate with other debuggers in other hardware, firmware and software teams that drive root cause analysis.

Accountable for explaining debug information extracted and representing that information in sharing forums

Provide technical recommendations based on debug information identified.

SCHIE organization, team responsible is the Fleet Health Engineering organization.

The Fleet Engineering Debug Team is accountable for debugging all non-compliant states in servers used to support MSFT cloud business.

The resources requested will support first and second steps in the debug process for systems current in out of service state.

Budget pre-approved to initiate the selection process.

Extract system level information (L1 Debug, Triage from failure mode) for debug of complex failure symptoms.

Follow at scale debug methodologies, test strategies and test routines in data center solutions, includes using queries to extract system level failure information.

Create, modify or use directly from others, Kusto Queries to collect information needed for the early characterization of the system level failure symptoms.

At scale debug operations are foundational in the recovery of systems that have had unhealthy behaviors. Debug routine is very intellectually challenging which makes it extremely interesting for someone that wants to problem-solve and debug machines (computer/server blade systems)

2 positions 10 years experienced are needed.

Engineering degree or equivalent based on Debug Experience

Disqualifiers: No debug experience.

- desired experience as a platform or software lead debugger or design for debug architect or a lead debug engineer or equivalent industry debug experience.

- deep understanding of debug systems and methodologies used in modern computer architectures or System on Chip features like virtualization technologies or major architectural blocks like Memory Controllers or Central Processing Units or Storage or Networking solutions for Cloud or Datacenter infrastructures

- capable of leading technical debug deep dives on potential software or hardware bugs in large scale datacenter infrastructure, cloud native systems, or virtualization technologies
