- Setup and operate manual machines
- Knowledge of CNC lathes, CNC mills and wire EDM experience is preferred
- Design, build and maintain large automotive tooling dies and fixtures for automotive parts production, incl
- Maintain records Tryout reports, Static and Dynamic buyoff lists
- Give input/ideas to Engineering Department on tooling/design alternatives for unique or difficult jobs
- Work from tooling prints, blueprints and broad general instructions where details must be determined from drawings, production parts, or product drawings involving considerable tool development and experimental work
- Visualize the finished job, making necessary mathematical calculations and determine the allowance for metal flo-spring, shrinkage
- Recognize design errors that would interfere with producing or checking parts or equipment
- Work to and maintain extremely close tolerances using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments, make decisions as to clearances, mechanism details, and the development of form and contours
- Perform bench and machine operation of all types involving a variety of unusual and complex set ups and machining methods, and highly skilled assembly operations
