Job Title: Shipping Coordinator I
Location: Waterloo, Iowa, 50704
Duration: 34-36 months Contract/Temp with possibility of extension
Shift Details: 3rd shift. Approx. hours are 11:00pm - 7:00am
Job Description:
MAJOR PURPOSE:
Participates in all daily activities of the shipping department. Coordinates the timely shipments of materials. Supervises shippers and truckers in prioritizing and/or organizing the shipment of loads.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Description of the major duties performed in this job.
Determines, coordinates and transacts shipments to customers and/or suppliers.
Participates in shipping department's activities. Assigns priorities to daily shipping activities and gives work directions to shipper, dock personnel and/or trucker.
Keeps in contact with, notifies and coordinates carriers, trucker and/or shipper e.g. when a load needs to be picked up.
Notifies customers about the status of customer orders, the condition of the load and the date their product is being shipped.
Prepares and writes out various shipping documents for freight companies e.g. permit papers, customs declarations and bills of lading.
Processes and maintains all relevant data of shipments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical skills, formal education, and relevant work experience critical for successful individual performance of essential functions.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Specialized skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge of unit processes and operations. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. - Yes
Education:
Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certifications, licenses and/or registration requirements.
Degree in a Business/Management discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (1-2 years or equivalent)
Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (1-2 years or equivalent)
Degree in a Supply Management discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (1-2 years or equivalent)
Degree in an Accounting/Finance discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (1-2 years or equivalent)
Relevant Work Experiences:
Type and amount of experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. May include specific roles and/or an understanding of a particular function, organization, industry or product line.
Experience in specific areas of Supply Management such as: supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, module supply management, scheduling, forecasting, logistics, etc. May be position specific. - Less than 1 year
Work experience in a team environment. - Less than 1 year
This position is specific to 3rd shift. Approx. hours are 11:00pm - 7:00am
Safety shoes, ability to drive hot truck (basic driver's license).
SAP preferred
GED required
Microsoft Office experience
Part time on feet and part time at desk
Will train for a minimum of 2 weeks on day upon starting before going to 3rd shift.
