Automation Business Analyst

Marsh Norwich (Hybrid Working)



The Automation BA will be the interface and point of liaison between the business, the development team (both in UK or India) and the IT/3rd Party Software Houses (SWHs) to optimally integrate both technology and business processes from design/detailing requirements through to implementation of solution/process and its onward transition into BAU. You'll also proactively identify and champion opportunities to further streamline our business process. You will be reporting into the Automation Lead for UK/I who will set objectives and assign you to projects in the pipeline.

The role: Automation Business Analyst

Exciting opportunity to deliver large scale change initiatives in Marsh UK & Ireland.
Part of the central Transformation team, including Project Managers and Business Analysts, with up to 20 years experience in the company.
The initial focus of the role will be in establishing a governance structure and detailed plans to drive the assigned project(s) in the UK & Ireland.
Marsh operates in a rapidly changing environment, such that there will be future opportunities for delivering significant change initiatives with potential for future roles with line management.

We will count on you to:

Run workshops with business teams to walkthrough processes and gather detailed requirements
Create clear and unambiguous keystroke documents, process maps and PDDs to ensure that automations are robust and meet the businesss requirements
Write user stories and assist with obtaining test data and assess to systems for the developer
Facilitate discovery session workshops with business teams to uncover pain points, and identify opportunities for automation (and intelligent automation)
Deliver requirements for the Business within the context of :understanding of the strategic direction of the Business, FCA and London Market regulations and direction, detailed knowledge of business processes and challenges, market and competition awareness, return on Equity and Investment, plus resource, budget and delivery challenges.
Support the Change team in developing options for delivering tactical and strategic platform changes
Create feasibility studies that can be used by the Business to make an informed decision on whether the IT work will benefit the business and therefore should be progressed
Work with the Business to translate requirements & service excellence needs into formal, structured IT/3rd Party SWH requests
Leverage existing projects, systems, and capabilities as appropriate, to maximise benefit to the Business
Establish two-way communication channels between the Business and IT/3rd Party SWHs in order to maximize opportunities to develop common understanding of the key drivers of both
Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions
Stay up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernise systems
Support the validation of test plans or creation of UAT plans, scripts and approach
End to End testing planning and defect management
Develop and deliver required training to support the deployment of approved processes and operational best practices
Conduct meetings, workshops and presentations to share ideas and findings
Provide training, coaching, and guidance to junior team members
Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements
Update, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures


What you need to have:

Substantial experience as an RPA analyst
Business Analysis experience in requirements gathering, process mapping/re-engineering
Deep understanding of the RPA and IA (Intelligent Automation) markets and trends
Strong understanding of Automation best practices
Superb communication and stakeholder management skills [and presentation skills]
Knowledge of Excel, Visio and Word is a must
Experience of working within an Agile delivery team
Experience of Insurance platform and Product and Platform Development is necessary
As-Is and To-Be Process mapping
Excellent analytical & interpretive skills including documentation of functional and non-functional requirements
Able to handle and process large amounts of data


What makes you stand out:

Insurance/Finance Sector experience
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
RPA developer qualification (preferably Blue Prism)
Experience of Insurance applications including end to end processes, testing, workflow management, document management, financial transactions
Solid understanding of use of insurance technology to support business and create and deliver strategy in line with insurance underwriting lifecycle
