Responsibilities:

  • Excellent employment opportunity for an Associate Scientist in the Gaithersburg, MD area. 100% onsite
  • Important: Must have very strong technical skills and animal lab work skills, specifically dosing and blood collecting regarding mice and rats.
  • Conducts hands-on preclinical research in multiple laboratory animal species.
  • Responsible for the care and wellbeing of laboratory animals.
  • Generate data for a wide variety of study types.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Responsibilities include technical procedures such as animal identification, collecting biological samples, and administering test articles.
  • Generates clear and complete data sets, including the documentation of raw data in computerized data capturing systems and on handwritten records.
  • May modify or improve processes and systems, depending on the purpose of experiments.
  • Searches for information that may improve research methodology and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring animal health criteria are met when ordering and receiving animals.
  • Contributes to the plans and designs of in vivo studies and provides general technical and scientific advice on specific projects and studies.
  • Manages own work to ensure that agreed targets are met in a timely manner and to agreed quality standards, communicating progress appropriately.
  • Assesses and communicates data and trends to department management and project teams.
  • Liaises with colleagues from other disciplines with the purpose of discussing project-related matters, sharing experiences, and reporting progress.
  • Performs daily animal husbandry tasks for a variety of species, routine facility operations tasks, identifies and reports any abnormal findings, and maintains the highest standards of animal care and welfare.
  • Responsible for daily documentation of tasks performed.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Must have very strong technical skills and animal lab work skills, specifically dosing and blood collecting regarding mice and rats.
