Job Description

• Perform reconditioning and maintenance on tools used in the metal fabrication operations.

General Functions

• Recondition and/or sharpens milling cutters, counterbores, reamers, and drills used in all metal fabrication operations

• This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. KSAs)

• Must have knowledge of tool and cutter grinding equipment and make own setups without extensive supervision.

• Cutter Maintenance function requires an extremely high degree of mental concentration and great visual demands.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Skill Requirements

• Recondition and/or sharpen milling cutters, flycutters, counterbores, reamers and drills to original configuration.

• Must be able to inspect their work to insure that tools will produce product to blueprint specifications.

• Must be able to operate tool and cutter grinders, surface grinders, drill grinders and precision measuring equipment. Must decide of tool is reclaimable. Works with high-speed steels and carbides and must know their grindability.

• Work requires standing for long durations, some sitting, and some lifting of equipment and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds.

• Prefer candidate with experience in sharpening and reconditioning form flycutters.
