- Applying protective coatings over areas that will not be painted, such as trunk lids or door jambs
- Applying primer to the surface of the vehicle prior to painting to ensure that the paint adheres to the surface
- Sanding off rust spots or other imperfections in the surface of a vehicle before painting to ensure that the paint adheres to the surface
- Painting vehicles with auto parts such as fenders, doors, hoods, or roofs that have been damaged in accidents or need replacement
- Preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning them thoroughly to remove grease or other contaminants that could affect the adhesion of the paint
- Applying paint to vehicles using spray guns or rollers depending on the type of paint used and the vehicle’s surface area
- Mixing paint to the proper color and consistency using a stir stick and bucket
- Applying primer to surfaces to ensure that the paint will adhere to the surface
- Applying protective coats over painted surfaces before they dry to prevent damage from occurring during shipping or storage
