The Transaction Platform team develops and optimizes Grabs Order Platform supporting the fast-growing Transport GrabFood and GrabMart businesses across online and offline channels. We use a microservice architecture on the backend and various frontend techniques (e.g. iOS ADR Flutter and Web) to serve end-users (Consumers Drivers Merchants and Partners) in 8 countries. Our microservices are generalized into platforms to enhance product market speed following a system principle where systems improve based on feedback signals without human intervention

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for an Android Software Engineer to build and evolve mobile applications that contribute to the development of a high-impact product. Youll work closely with team members to turn product ideas into seamless user experiences. You will report to the Lead Software Engineer Mobile and will be based fully on-site in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Translating requirements into well-designed user-focused Android features.
• Develop test and deploy code with a focus on quality and scalability.
• Proactively identify and solve technical challenges.
• Optimize app performance for responsiveness and stability.
• Implement robust security measures to protect user data.
• Actively participate in code reviews to maintain high development standards.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate app functionalities.
• Stay up-to-date with trends in mobile development and proposing innovative solutions.

Qualifications :

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Have 2 years of experience in native Android system and programming paradigms including Kotlin Jetpack Compose Kotlin Coroutines/Flow and Dagger. RxJava is an added value.
• Have a working knowledge of several architectural approaches design (MVC MVP MVI MVVM) caching and data storage.
• Have a working understanding of quality/operations practices such as monitoring crash/performance debugging and CI/CD-driven delivery (including responding to production issues and communicating.
• Familiar with common Git workflows (branching pull requests resolving conflicts and rebasing/merging) for collaboration.
• Manage an assigned feature end-to-end from requirements and implementation through self-test QA handover release verification and defect follow-up.
• Write clean maintainable and well-documented code with comprehensive unit and integration tests using frameworks such as JUnit Espresso and Mockito.
• Demonstrate solid Android system design fundamentals including non-functional requirements stability/reliability and the ability to reason about edge cases and trade-offs.
• Collaborate with the backend team to create modular reusable components and scalable APIs.
• Partner with product and experience teams to translate requirements into technical specifications.
