Principal Injection Molding Tooling Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Injection Molding Tooling Engineer to lead the full lifecycle of injection mold toolingfrom concept through production readiness and continuous improvement. This role partners cross-functionally to deliver high-quality scalable and cost-effective tooling solutions that support technology products in the Utilities & Energy sector.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead evaluation and definition of tooling packages for RFQs on new products
- Conduct mold flow analysis and provide design feedback to improve manufacturability quality and cycle time
- Own specification quotation procurement and lifecycle management of injection mold tooling
- Facilitate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews and identify tooling-driven process improvements
- Develop and standardize SOPs work instructions and best practices for tooling setup maintenance and operation
- Partner with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot tooling and process issues in real time
- Drive improvements in OEE through data-driven analysis and participation in manufacturing reviews
- Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through tooling redesign standardization and new technologies
- Support automation and advanced manufacturing initiatives to enhance production capability
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical Manufacturing Plastics or related field) or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in injection molding tooling design procurement and production environments
- Proven expertise in mold flow analysis and applying results to tooling and part design decisions
- Strong knowledge of injection molding processes materials and tooling construction
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence technical outcomes
- Experience developing SOPs and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in fast-paced production environments
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Advanced degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience in industrial equipment or technology manufacturing environments
- Background in automation robotics or advanced manufacturing systems
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience managing global tooling suppliers and vendor relationships
- Knowledge of emerging materials sustainability practices or digital manufacturing technologies
