WebApps Systems Administration Specialist

About The Job:

• Client is seeking an experienced Web & Middleware Administrator responsible for installing configuring securing optimizing and supporting enterprise-grade web servers application servers and middleware platforms across on-premise and cloud environments.
• This role ensures highly available scalable and secure hosting for business applications while collaborating closely with development security DevOps cloud and infrastructure teams.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Web Server Administration (Apache HTTP NGINX IIS)

• Install configure and maintain Apache HTTP NGINX and IIS across Linux and Windows environments.
• Configure virtual hosts reverse proxies load balancing SSL/TLS modsecurity modjk/modproxy WAF rules and request routing.
• Manage certificates keystores aliasing and automated certificate renewals.
• Implement hardening guidelines including security headers cipher suites rate limits and firewall rules.
• Monitor web traffic patterns tune performance and troubleshoot HTTP/HTTPS/SSL issues.

2. Java Application Server Administration (WebLogic WebSphere JBoss Tomcat Oracle AS)

• Install configure patch and upgrade Oracle WebLogic Client WebSphere JBoss EAP/WildFly Apache Tomcat and Oracle Application Server.
• Manage JVM tuning heap sizing thread pools JDBC data sources JMS resources session replication and clusters.
• Deploy EAR/WAR/JAR applications manually and through CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot application issues including classloader conflicts memory leaks thread dumps GC tuning and connection pool bottlenecks.
• Configure multi-node clustering domain creation admin nodes managed servers and load balancers.
• Set up security realms LDAP/AD integration JAAS and J2EE/Jakarta EE security policies.

3. Performance Engineering & Monitoring

• Configure and optimize caching compression keep-alive settings connection handling request limits and tuning parameters.
• Monitor JVM performance GC logs thread utilization heap usage and server KPIs.
• Use monitoring tools such as Dynatrace AppDynamics Prometheus/Grafana Splunk and ELK.

4. Automation DevOps & CI/CD Support

• Automate server builds deployments and configuration management using Shell Python PowerShell Ansible or Jenkins.
• Integrate web and application servers with CI/CD tools including GitHub GitLab Azure DevOps and Jenkins.
• Maintain infrastructure and configurations as code for repeatable and compliant deployments.

5. Security Compliance & Hardening

• Implement SSL/TLS certificate rotation PKI keystore and truststore management.
• Apply CIS OWASP STIG and organizational hardening standards.
• Manage access controls RBAC authentication modules and secure administration interfaces.
• Patch vulnerabilities perform upgrades and support security audits.

6. High Availability DR & Scalability

• Set up clustering and load balancing for WebLogic WebSphere JBoss Tomcat NGINX Apache and IIS environments.
• Manage horizontal and vertical scaling strategies.
• Build and maintain disaster recovery environments backups replication and failover testing processes.

7. Troubleshooting & Operational Support

• Diagnose issues across operating systems networks DNS load balancers reverse proxies JVM layers application code and backend integrations.
• Manage incident response root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions.
• Provide 247 on-call support when required.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in Web Server and Middleware Administration.
• Strong expertise in WebLogic WebSphere JBoss/WildFly Tomcat Oracle Application Server Apache HTTP Server NGINX and IIS.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
• Strong knowledge of SSL/TLS PKI LDAP Active Directory and enterprise security practices.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines DevOps tools and automation scripting.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS Azure and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong troubleshooting performance tuning and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
