Job Summary
The Staff Firmware Engineer (Contract) will be part of Enphases Core Engineering R&D team focused on the development and launch of Residential and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Energy Storage products.
This team is responsible for designing prototyping validating and scaling advanced storage systems that seamlessly integrate with Enphases industry-leading technologies including the IQ Series Microinverters EV Chargers Combiners and broader home energy ecosystem. The ideal candidate is passionate about embedded systems development thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment and collaborates effectively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative high-quality products.
- Design and develop firmware for STM32 and ARM Cortex-M based 32-bit microcontrollersDevelop solutions using RTOS (preferably Zephyr) for multi-core microcontrollers and support bare-metal hard real-time applicationsDesign develop and maintain low-level drivers for communication interfaces including: I2C UART SPI
- Implement and supportCAN communication protocols Developembedded software using C and leverage Python for build automation testing and development workflowsWork with microcontroller peripherals including: ADC GPIOP
- Implement and support CAN communication protocols Developembedded software using C and leverage Python for build automation testing and development workflows.
- Develop and maintain secure bootloaders and secure firmware upgrade mechanisms
- Contribute toCI/CD pipelines using Git Docker-based build systems and automated development workflowsDevelop and execute unit tests within the Zephyr ecosystem
- Perform firmware module integration testing and system-level validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- B. E/ B. Tech in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- 8 years experience in a similar (non-academic) role as an embedded software or firmware engineer
- Strong expertise in embedded firmware development for microcontroller-based systems
- Experience with TCP/IP-based industrial communication protocols including: MQTT Modbus
- Hands-on experience withEthernet technologies preferably Industrial Ethernet
- Strong understanding of TLS cybersecurity principles and embedded application security
- Experience withBattery Management Systems (BMS) including voltage and temperature monitoring is highly preferred
- Understanding ofState of Charge (SoC) estimation and battery algorithms is a plus
- Experience developing or supportingEnergy Management System (EMS) state machines is an added advantage
- Strong problem-solving debugging and collaboration skills with the ability to drive complex technical projects independently
- BMS (voltage and temperature monitoring) SoC - a plus
- EMS state machine experience is a plus
