ABOUT THE POSITION

Although were an apparel and footwear-focused company technology is central to everything we do. Columbia Sportswears Digital Technology (CDT) group enables an IT infrastructure and applications across four global brands a global supply chain and 500 geographically dispersed stores. These teams support in-store mobile and data platforms to enhance customer interface and service in an ever-evolving industry.

The Sr. Data Platform Engineer is a member of the Data & Analytics (D&A) Platform and Architecture team responsible for the design development testing maintenance and support of CSCs Enterprise Data Platform. Working on a dedicated scrum team the Sr. Data Platform Engineer will provide technical and architectural design as well as development and analytical support for CSCs D&A platform.

The Sr. Data Platform Engineer must have demonstrable big data experience with cloud computing in order to help the D&A team deliver high-quality first-class reporting to customers. A skillset that includes data architecture and system design is a must.

The Sr. Data Platform Engineer will have strong communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively with technical teams across information technology (IT) groups.

HOW YOULL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer on our Data & Analytics (D&A) Platform and Architecture team youll contribute to the development optimization and ongoing evolution of CSCs enterprise data platform - a governed lakehouse built on Azure Databricks and Delta Lake running at global scale.

Your responsibilities will include:

< >Developing and maintaining data infrastructure pipelines frameworks and platform tooling within the established architectureDesign build and maintain scalable data platforms using Databricks Data Lake Data Factory and Data Warehouse.Collaborating with senior and principal engineers on integration patterns across ingestion transformation and consumption layersIn-depth knowledge of Azure Key Vault and security best with Unity Catalog and managing multiple and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Terraform.Identifying and resolving performance issues in pipelines and queriesParticipating in scrum ceremonies and delivering reliably within an agile teamSupporting and mentoring more junior engineers as you grow into the roleCommunicating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across time zonesAvailability to participate in an on-call rotation for production support coverageYOU ARE

Required

< >5 years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles with at least 3 years working in a cloud environment (Azure preferred)Solid hands-on experience with Apache Spark and PySparkStrong SQL skills and comfort with query optimizationWorking experience with Databricks and Delta LakeFamiliarity with Azure Data Factory or comparable pipeline/orchestration toolingGood communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a global teamComfort operating with a degree of autonomy in a distributed cross-timezone environmentBachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field or equivalent demonstrable experienceExposure to Unity Catalog medallion architecture or enterprise data governance conceptsFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform or equivalent)Experience with enterprise scheduling platforms (e.g. Tidal)Exposure to BI platforms such as Power BI at the data layerWHY JOIN US
