About the Role
Were looking for a dedicated Software QA Engineer with passion for automation especially when it comes to challenge of transforming complex manual test cases into robust efficient automated solutions.
Were seeking an experienced Software QA Engineer - Automation to play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our desktop simulation products within a multiplatform environment. Youll be instrumental in our Quality Center of Excellence working with industry-leading CAE tools and directly contributing to the development of high-quality software through advanced automated QA.
This isnt just about writing scripts; its about creatively solving problems. Youll focus on automating those "hard-to-automate" scenarios particularly graphical user interface (GUI) interactions complex selections and other user-driven workflows that demand innovative scripting solutions. Youll collaborate closely with experienced QA engineers and developers driving the evolution of automated testing for our desktop simulation products.
Key Responsibilities
As a Software QA Engineer you will:
- A primary focus will be on designing writing enhancing and maintaining automated test scripts using languages like Python or similar. Youll help build a robust regression test suite for Simcenter products
- Architect and implement automated tests specifically targeting challenging user interface and graphics-intensive test cases. Youll leverage tools like Python Perl Eggplant or similar pushing the boundaries of whats automatable.
- Create programs or scripts that automate test cases from real-world engineering functionalities like import/export FE model creation analysis setup or post-processing tasks.
- Proactively translate existing manual test cases into efficient automated scripts ensuring comprehensive coverage improved efficiency and faster feedback cycles. Youll design tests that effectively validate new features and existing functionality.
- Develop and prepare model files necessary to support and validate automated test functions within Simcenter products.
- Update the current suite of automated tests to align with the latest product releases and add new automated tests for functional areas that currently lack automation.
- Work closely with senior QA engineers and software developers actively contributing to discussions on test strategy automation architecture and the integration of automated tests into our continuous integration pipelines.
Required Qualifications
Were looking for someone who brings:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in test automation within Software Quality Engineering with a strong portfolio of automation projects.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Perl.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Experience with developing regression QA automation workflows and high-performance computing (HPC) workflows.
- Exposure or experience with software development for desktop simulations products like Hyperworks and/or FEA solver tools (e.g. OptiStruct NASTRAN ABAQUS RADIOSS etc.)
- Hands-on automation experience with tools like Eggplant or similar.
- Demonstrates a proactive can-do attitude with strong logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities; thrives as a positive and collaborative team player shows resilience in challenging situations and brings innovative out-of-the-box thinking to drive solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling effective collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
These "nice-to-haves" will help you stand out:
- Familiarity with various operating systems including Windows and UNIX/Linux.
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis concept either through coursework or projects. Familiarity with any CAE software is a plus.
