Developer 1 is a mid-level ServiceNow engineer specializing in IT Service Management (ITSM) and/or Configuration Management (CSDM/CMDB) or Release & Change (RC). This role is responsible for full-cycle feature development within assigned sprints - from design through to deployment support and hypercare - while upholding the teams code quality standards.
DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY Design build and unit-test ServiceNow solutions aligned to BA-approved requirements and the Demand Architects solution brief Provide accurate story-point and effort estimates during sprint planning and formal estimation gates Participate in peer code reviews - apply and enforce team coding standards naming conventions and script design patterns Investigate triage and resolve defects raised by QA within agreed SLAs; document root cause for recurring issue patterns Maintain technical documentation - solution notes deployment guides update set records and config change logs
RISK QUALITY & GOVERNANCE Flag technical risk scope creep or architectural misalignment to the Lead Developer or Scrum Master immediately upon identification Support the Release Manager on deployment packaging update set sequencing and environment readiness checks Monitor application health through the hypercare period post-release; own defect triage and hot-fix coordination Contribute to the technical debt backlog - identify document and prioritize legacy risk items
COLLABORATION & GROWTH Attend BA requirement walkthroughs - raise technical questions and feasibility concerns before development begins Work with the Demand Architect to implement approved solution patterns and reusable components Mentor junior developers through code pairing structured review feedback and knowledge-sharing sessions
