We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst Buy Side to support the investment team through detailed fundamental research and sector analysis. The role involves tracking companies across sectors building financial models identifying investment opportunities and monitoring industry and market developments. The candidate should have a strong understanding of valuation methodologies experience in primary research and channel checks and the ability to present clear investment views. The role also requires active participation in investment discussions and collaboration with internal research and AI-driven tools.
Responsibilities:
Cover Multiple sectors with deep institutional-grade research including channel checks primary data work.
Build and maintain detailed earnings models including normalised/mid-cycle earnings replacement cost scenario DCF and SOTP where relevant.
Track quarterly results management commentary industry developments and policy changes across coverage sectors and surface time-sensitive ideas to the PM.
Track special situations within coverage (open offers demergers mergers restructuring) as event-driven alpha sources.
Identify and track cycle inflection points across sectors using capacity utilization capex cycles working capital trends commodity prices and demand/supply mapping.
Produce high-quality written research outputs that meet institutional standards explicit data sourcing scenario analysis and clear gap-flagging.
Participate in Investment Committee discussions with reasoned stock recommendations sizing rationale and explicit risk/exit frameworks.
Work collaboratively with the firms internal AI research tooling contributing to its refinement and using it to accelerate judgment-led analysis.
Provide informal guidance to junior analyst(s) as the team scales.
Minimum 5/6 years of equity research experience with a buy-side orientation (PMS AMC AIF family office or buy-side-aligned sell-side desk). Pure broking-research backgrounds considered if accompanied by a clear investing mindset and modelling depth.
Track record of independently covering stocks with the ability to walk through past calls including the ones that did not work and why.
Comfort with multiple valuation methodologies appropriate to cyclical investing: cycle-adjusted earnings replacement cost EV/IC vs ROIC scenario DCF SOTP.
Bachelors in finance Economics Accountancy Engineering or a related / CFA / MBA Finance preferred.
NISM Series XV-A (Research Analyst) certification required at offer or within 90 days of joining.
Working familiarity with SEBI PMS Regulations 2020 and Research Analyst Regulations 2014.
Active use of AI / LLM tools in research workflows (Claude ChatGPT NotebookLM internal agents). Curiosity here matters more than current proficiency.
Experience with channel checks primary research and expert networks.
Excellent communication capable of producing and communicating institutional research notes with explicit data sourcing and gap-flagging.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Mathematics or related field. Advanced degrees (e.g. MBA CFA) preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Team Leader in a brokerage firm or financial institution with a strong background in mid-frequency trading strategies. Proven experience managing substantial trading margins (more than 100 crores) and leading teams of 25 people or more. Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing Conversion Reversal Box and Butterfly strategies with a focus on low risk and no delta positions. Strong understanding of options pricing derivatives and market dynamics. Familiarity with trading software such as Greek Omneysys Utrade Multitrade and XTS; ability to adapt and learn new software as required.
