Job Summary

Purpose

Build and develop Market Analysis capabilities within Energy Management India to deliver market insights and models that support commercial decision-making asset investment risk management and strategic planning across ENGIEs energy portfolio in India.

This role is central to enabling ENGIEs energy transition ambitions by developing robust models and data-driven tools that inform trading origination and investment strategies

BP APAC is expanding its operations in India to support the Renewable & Flexible Assets BU (R&F BU) which manages a 2.3 GW renewable portfolio aiming to reach up to 9 GW by 2030.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible and accountable for achieving the following outcomes which can evolve to align with the business strategic goals.

Strategic

  • Define and execute the market analysis strategy to support Renewable & Flexible GBU (R&F) and Supply & Energy Management GBU (S&EM) commercial and operational priorities.
  • Engage with Spot Trading Forward Trading Portfolio and Commercial teams to develop relevant reports and tools for Indian Electricity physical and contract markets
  • Contribute to the development of R&F and S&EM strategic direction by providing constructive challenge and innovative insights to ensure robust and forward-looking strategies
  • Partner with internal teams particularly R&F teams to embed market analysis into decision-making processes

Technical Excellence

  • Develop maintain and ensure quality control for reports and models including regular updates on recent outcomes and forward looking models to provide insights for decision making.
  • Ensure analytical outputs are accurate timely and actionable for internal stakeholders including trading commercial and asset development teams
  • Provide strategic thoughts in the market analysis space including models to develop and future scenarios to consider

Compliance

  • Ensure all modelling activities comply with ENGIEs risk compliance and ethical standards.

Reporting & Communication

  • Deliver clear and impactful reporting on market performance and modelling outcomes.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings to senior stakeholders in a business-relevant manner.
Health Safety and Environment
  • Foster a sound safety culture.
  • Adhere to ENGIEs HS&E policies procedures and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behaviour within the team and take appropriate action to resolve these escalating serious issues as appropriate.

Qualifications Skills and Experience

Qualifications & Education

Tertiary degree in - Quantitative discipline

Job Specific (Technical) Skills & Experience
  • Strong expertise in energy market modelling quantitative analysis and communication of results to non-technical audience.
  • Deep understanding of India energy markets.
  • Strong statistical mathematical modelling skills and broad range of experience with different modelling approaches (Optimisation Time series Option valuation etc..).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with advanced modelling tools and programming languages (e.g. Python R SQL).
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced ambiguous environment.
