HIRING SENIOR IBM i / AS400 SPECIALIST CORE MODERNIZATION

Location: Remote / Offshore India

Experience: 12 Years

Budget: 1.82.0 LPM

Employment: Contract / Project-Based

Shift: US Shift Minimum 4 Hours Overlap

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Senior IBM i / AS400 Specialist with strong hands-on expertise in COBOL DB2 for i SQL and Python on IBM i. You will work as the offshore execution arm of the Onshore IBM i Lead focusing on legacy system analysis COBOL reverse engineering business logic discovery system dependencies documentation test environments and test-data preparation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyze DB2 for i schemas files tables relationships & data structures

Reverse engineer complex COBOL applications and business rules

Trace Policy Transaction & Line-of-Business processing flows

Analyze batch jobs job queues scheduling & dependencies

Review SQL queries database access patterns & performance

Document actual system behavior and technical/functional flows

Configure/manage IBM i/AS400 QA/UAT environments

Generate and validate realistic test data

Support QA/UAT environment and data readiness

Collaborate with Onshore IBM i SME/Lead and modernization teams

MANDATORY SKILLS

12 years IBM i / AS400 experience

Strong COBOL on IBM i/AS400

Python on IBM i Mandatory

Strong DB2 for i & SQL

Legacy application reverse engineering

Batch processing job queues & scheduling

AS400 test environment & test-data management

Excellent spoken/written English & communication

Not a Cloud DevOps Kubernetes or generic backend role.

EXPECTATIONS

30 Days: Understand architecture COBOL programs DB2 schema & begin documentation.

60 Days: Independently own system analysis test environments & datasets.

90 Days: Own assigned modules end-to-end and deliver validated modernization-ready documentation.
