Purpose of the position
To lead the airfreight imports (operations) team and achieve operational excellence higher productivity and customer satisfaction.
To own and manage the Air Freight product P&L for the region to achieve EBIT as per agreed targets
Key Tasks
Achieve Operational Excellence and Cost leadership through overall monitoring of the Air imports team and ensuring accurate and timely documentation to increase team productivity.
Execute airfreight operation processes within Area Standard and prescribed guidelines.
Rendering product solutions related to air imports.
Ensure compliance with the standard area operating processes
Ensure customer satisfaction and customer retention through effective handling.
Replies to emails and queries from overseas offices and customers to be done in a timely manner.
Ensure highest level of data quality by processing the shipment accurately
Execute carrier policy as per area guidelines.
Execute local capacity management
Responsible for adhoc procurement with vendors (airlines)
Monitor carrier and vendor subcontractor management.
Communicate and resolve with the customer on exceptions and incidents Invoice service Irregularities & Claims Management
Maintain and cultivate regular contact with customers vendors.
Assure proper information flow with department staff on updates changes market trends/requirements etc.
Explore new business opportunities from existing customers.
Ensure proper training cross functional training of staff to ensure a skilled dedicated and committed team.
Ensure that timely job costing is done by the team
Attend to all internal queries & gross profit estimation
Meet important customers regularly and develop rapport with them
Escalation where necessary to District Manager-(W.I)
Observe and follow special duties
Responsible for the Air Imports team.

Educational background / Work experience
Graduate with 8-10 years of industry experience
Postgraduate / Management degree will be added advantage

Fluent in English (other languages depending on the location)

MS Office skills and good knowledge regarding IT systems
Excellent command on companys IT system tools like CW1/ CRM /SAP etc.
