Senior Firmware Developer - Thermal Application
Position Summary
The Senior Firmware Developer - Thermal Application engineer will be responsible for leading the design development validation and support of electrical and electronic systems for HVAC equipment with strong handson experience in screw chiller machines and thermal products. This role involves technical leadership crossfunctional coordination and endtoend ownership of electrical controls and integration activities throughout the product lifecyclefrom concept to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical and electronic systems for HVAC machines including screw chillers and thermal products.
- Prepare review and approve electrical schematics wiring diagrams control panel layouts interlock logic and BOMs.
- Select and integrate electrical and electronic components such as VFDs controllers PLCs HMIs sensors protection devices and safety components.
- Lead and support PLC and HMI programming activities including control logic review I/O allocation tag mapping alarm handling and parameter optimization.
- Drive BMS integration (BACnet / Modbus or equivalent) including points list definition signal mapping validation and coordination with site/BMS teams.
- Support control philosophy development and close integration of electrical systems with controls and embedded software.
- Drive design validation testing (DVT) dry testing performance testing and troubleshooting in lab and factory environments.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for electrical and controlsrelated issues identified during testing or field operation.
- Support commissioning field issues and service escalations related to electrical controls and automation systems.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Software Product Management QA Sourcing and Service teams to ensure successful product execution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards safety norms cybersecurity guidelines (where applicable) and regulatory requirements.
- Support component localization alternate sourcing and cost optimization initiatives without compromising performance or reliability.
- Provide technical guidance reviews and mentoring to junior engineers and team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent).
- Approx 6 years of relevant industry experience preferably in HVAC industrial machinery or automation systems.
- Strong machinelevel experience with HVAC systems particularly screw chiller machines and thermal products.
- Deep knowledge of industrial electrical systems power distribution control panels safety circuits and VFD applications.
- Solid working experience with PLC and HMI programming in industrial or HVAC applications.
- Proven exposure to BMS integration using standard industrial protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as C C Structured Text (ST) and Function Block Diagram (FBD); ability to review logic and coordinate with software teams.
- Handson experience in testing commissioning and troubleshooting complex HVAC and automation systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings control schematics functional descriptions and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical problemsolving communication and teamleadership skills.
