About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
Essential
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering Communications Engineering Computer Science Systems Engineering Control Systems or a related discipline.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in OT networking industrial communications control systems networks telecommunications or IT/OT integration within mining resources oil and gas utilities or industrial environments.
- Experience across the engineering design lifecycle ideally from concept or FEED through detailed design implementation support commissioning and handover.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering design of greenfield and brownfield industrial projects involving OT systems ICS SCADA communications or production-critical networks.
- Knowledge of industrial control environments including SCADA platforms PLCs DCS industrial networks and critical communications systems.
- Demonstrated ability to review vendor and subcontractor designs for compliance with client specifications engineering principles standards and project requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
- Certifications such as CCNP CCIE CompTIA Network IEC 62443 Foundation/Practitioner CISSP GICSP TOGAF SABSA Azure/AWS networking or solutions architecture or equivalent practical credentials.
- Experience with network monitoring OT monitoring SIEM integration anomaly detection asset visibility and security operations interfaces.
- Exposure to architecture modelling and requirements traceability tools such as Orbus Infinity ArchiMate or equivalent tools.
- Experience with mining communications autonomous fleet connectivity mobile fleet systems LTE/5G Wi-Fi microwave backhaul and fibre-based backhaul networks.
- Experience with industrial OT network equipment deployed in underground mining operational areas or similar harsh environments (heat and contaminants).

The Role
As a Senior Digital Solutions Consultant with Worley you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.
- Worley is seeking an experienced Operational Technology Networking Engineer to support the design and delivery of secure resilient and fit-for-purpose OT network infrastructure for mining resources and industrial environments. The role will develop and review OT network architectures segmentation models connectivity designs and integration solutions supporting SCADA PLC DCS telemetry autonomous systems mobile fleet communications and production-critical digital platforms across greenfield and brownfield projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong OT networking experience practical understanding of industrial communications and cybersecurity-by-design and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering cybersecurity telecommunications vendor and client teams.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop OT network architectures across industrial control telecommunications edge integration and cybersecurity domains ensuring alignment with client requirements operational objectives and project delivery phases.
- Develop OT network standards and requirements documentation in collaboration with client OT systems stakeholders to achieve client capability objectives.
- Produce engineering artefacts including OT network architecture diagrams network segmentation models connectivity drawings interface specifications IP addressing strategies firewall zoning concepts routing concepts wireless backhaul integration views and implementation-ready design inputs.
- Design and review OT network infrastructure supporting SCADA PLCs DCS telemetry industrial applications remote operations mobile fleet systems and autonomous mining systems.
- Provide technical input into IT/OT convergence strategies including segmentation secure connectivity edge-to-cloud integration and operational data transport across levels 1-4.
- Apply OT cybersecurity-by-design principles including network segmentation defence-in-depth Zero Trust concepts microsegmentation secure remote access and controlled integration between OT and enterprise networks.
- Ensure OT network designs consider relevant standards and frameworks including IEC 62443 ISO 27001 NIST CSF SOCI Act obligations where applicable ISA-95 concepts secure industrial protocols and client-specific engineering standards.
- Support the selection assessment and integration of network equipment industrial switches routers wireless systems firewalls gateways network management platforms and OT monitoring tools.
- Review vendor subcontractor and system integrator designs for compliance with engineering principles client standards project specifications constructability maintainability and cybersecurity requirements.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity control systems telecommunications electrical digital and operations teams to ensure OT network designs support safety reliability operational continuity maintainability and future scalability.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support vulnerability assessment risk assessment threat modelling and network hardening activities where they relate to OT network design and integration.
- Provide technical input to FEED studies concept studies design reviews procurement packages RFP/RFQ responses tender submissions and project estimates.
- Support construction commissioning and handover teams by providing technical clarification design intent verification non-conformance review support and field engineering input.
- Maintain compliance with relevant health safety environmental quality and cybersecurity legislative requirements across OT networking activities.
Job Specific Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of OT networking technologies including industrial Ethernet VLANs routing switching firewalls network segmentation SDN SD-WAN MPLS secure remote access and IT/OT convergence.
- Experience designing networks for industrial automation and control systems including connectivity for SCADA PLCs DCS telemetry historians edge systems wireless networks and production-critical services.
- Strong understanding of industrial protocols and integration patterns including Modbus Profibus EtherCAT OPC DNP3 OPC UA MQTT API-based integration and secure data exchange between OT and IT systems.
- Working knowledge of RF and telecommunications systems used in mining and industrial operations including LTE/5G Wi-Fi microwave backhaul point-to-point radio fibre backhaul and communications infrastructure.
- Ability to produce clear network design documentation including architecture views design reports technical assessments network interface definitions and implementation-supporting design packages.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating inputs from OT IT cybersecurity digital telecommunications project delivery vendor and client stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of OT cybersecurity principles including segmentation access control monitoring anomaly detection patching considerations and secure design of critical infrastructure environments.
- Ability to contribute to cost-benefit analysis transition planning FEED handover procurement alignment and project risk review.
