QA Engineer

Job Overview
Under broad guidance executes and verifies software application tests.

Core QA Skills
Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and SDLC
Experience in manual testing including functional regression integration and UAT testing
Ability to write and execute test cases test scenarios and test plans
Defect tracking and reporting using tools like JIRA Azure DevOps or similar
Good understanding of test data preparation and validation techniques

Automation Testing Skills (Nice to Have):
Experience with automation tools such as:
o Selenium WebDriver / Cypress / Playwright
Programming knowledge in:
o Java / Python / JavaScript
Development and maintenance of automation test scripts and frameworks
Knowledge of BDD frameworks (Cucumber SpecFlow)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins GitHub Actions Azure Pipelines)
Experience with version control systems (Git)

Agile Methodology Experience
Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
Participation in:
o Sprint planning
o Daily standups
o Sprint reviews & retrospectives
Understanding of user stories acceptance criteria and Definition of Done
Ability to perform continuous testing within sprints

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Ability to identify edge cases and potential risks
Root cause analysis of defects and issues

Communication & Collaboration
Effective communication with developers product owners and business stakeholders
Ability to clearly document and explain defects
Strong team player mindset with collaboration across cross-functional teams

Work Ethic & Soft Skills
Patient and detail-oriented especially with repetitive testing tasks
Proactive in identifying issues risks and improvements
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Adaptable to changing requirements in fast-paced Agile environments
Ownership and accountability for assigned tasks

Additional Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with API testing (Postman / Rest Assured)
Basic knowledge of SQL/Database testing
Exposure to performance or security testing tools
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure AWS)

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree Computer Science a related field or equivalent experience
