Job Summary


Role Overview

The Peer Champion serves as a community-based case worker playing a critical role in facilitating access to healthcare and social support services for adolescents and young people. The role focuses on strengthening community linkages improving service uptake and enhancing awareness of gender and sexual and reproductive health issues.

The Peer Champion works closely with clinic teams community networks and partner organisations to ensure that beneficiaries are effectively reached supported and linked to appropriate services without duplication.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach and Client Support

  • Support clinic activities by improving new registrations and ensuring follow-up of existing clients.
  • Assist clients in accessing services at government and private healthcare facilities including accompanying them when required.

Youth Engagement and Awareness

  • Work closely with youth networks to raise awareness on gender-related issues affecting adolescents and young people.
  • Conduct outreach through events sessions and activities in educational institutions youth clubs NGOs and CBOs.
  • Facilitate increased registration for services related to sexual and reproductive health mental health gender dysphoria and laser services through community engagement efforts.

Stakeholder Engagement and Sensitisation

  • Collaborate with organisations working on gender womens issues transgender health and mental health.
  • Engage service providers such as beauty parlours gyms spas massage centres and healthcare providers to sensitise them on gender and trans-health issues.
  • Ensure that clients from these networks are appropriately referred to Sabrang clinic services without duplication of existing services.

Social Support and Livelihood Linkages

  • Facilitate access to social protection schemes and welfare services.
  • Link beneficiaries with skill-building programmes livelihood opportunities and income generation activities.
  • Support the formation and functioning of self-help groups where applicable.

Community Events and Mobilisation

  • Support the organisation of community-based events and health camps led by clinic staff.
  • Play an active role in the mobilisation coordination and facilitation of community participation.

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Coordinate with field-level staff under the SACS programme to ensure effective and seamless service delivery to beneficiaries.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Prepare and submit reports in designated formats within specified timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities outreach efforts and client interactions.

Other Responsibilities

  • Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the project.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong grounding in community mobilisation with a clear understanding of community dynamics and outreach processes.
  • Previous experience working with transgender/hijra populations with sensitivity to gender and social issues.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Good organisational and reporting skills with attention to documentation and timelines.
  • Ability to read and write in the local language.
  • Willingness to travel locally and actively engage in field-based work.
