MES Solution Architect

Summary of Position:

This role enables digital manufacturing by ensuring Opcenter is technically robust wellintegrated and aligned with shopfloor reality. The Solution Architect plays a critical role in connecting manufacturing operations to enterprise systems while supporting scalability compliance and continuous improvement.

As anOpcenter Solution Architectyou will support the Siemens Opcenter MES rollout across Alcons diverse manufacturing sites. The Siemens Opcenter Solution Architect is responsible for designing developing and implementing MES customizations and integrations that enable reliable scalable and seamless shopfloor functionality. This role bridges manufacturing operations IT and OT by translating business and operational requirements into robust technical solutions within the Siemens Opcenter ecosystem.

The Solution Architect focuses on solution design system extensions integrations and technical governance ensuring Opcenter aligns with manufacturing processes enterprise systems and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture & Design

• Conduct fitgap analysis to evaluate manufacturing requirements against Opcenter standard capabilities.
• Design endtoend MES solutions that support manufacturing operations traceability quality and compliance.
• Develop solution blueprints system architectures data models and technical design documentation.
• Ensure solutions align with ISA95 principles and enterprise architecture standards.

MES Customization & Extensions

• Design and build Opcenter customizations including services rules events extensions and UI components.
• Develop custom business logic data structures and user interactions to support shopfloor needs.
• Support and manage MES enhancement and customization extensions while maintaining system stability.
• Contribute to a common MES code base to ensure reuse consistency and maintainability across sites.

Integrations & Data Exchange

• Architect and implement integrations between Opcenter and ERP (e.g. SAP) PLM SCADA automation historians and other enterprise systems.
• Design and develop interfaces using REST/SOAP APIs web services messaging frameworks or Opcenter Integration Frameworks.
• Ensure data integrity reliability performance and traceability across integrated systems.

Implementation Testing & Validation

• Support MES deployment activities including configuration technical testing validation and release readiness.
• Develop and execute technical test scripts and support GxP documentation where applicable.
• Participate in incident problem change and configuration management processes (ITILaligned).

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Translate business and manufacturing requirements into MES functional and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with manufacturing quality IT OT and external vendors to ensure solution alignment and execution.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal communication collaboration analytical and presentation skills.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

• Troubleshoot and resolve MES integration and customization issues to maintain production stability.
• Support Opcenter upgrades patches and platform evolution initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to optimize system performance data flow and user experience.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering IT Technology or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience working with Siemens Opcenter / Camstar MES solutions.
• Handson experience designing and implementing MES customizations and integrations.
• Strong understanding of MES architecture manufacturing systems and shopfloor operations.
• Experience with integration technologies (REST/SOAP APIs messaging web services).
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Fluent in English (reading writing and speaking)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Opcenter Execution (Discrete Process or Medical/Pharma).
• Experience working in regulated or validated environments (GxP FDA ISO).
• Familiarity with ERP PLM SCADA and industrial automation systems.
• Knowledge of CN MOM / CIO Solution Configuration / Build with Designer / Portal Studio
• Exposure to ITIL processes and tools (e.g. ServiceNow Jira).
