Mechanical Engineer NPD
Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer (NPD) will be responsible for design and development of high-speed connectors and interconnect solutions from concept to production. The role involves ownership of product lifecycle (NPD → NPI) with strong focus on performance manufacturability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Design & Development
Lead concept design development and qualification of connectors / mechanical components
Create 3D models 2D drawings and BOMs using Creo / SolidWorks
Translate customer requirements into robust design solutions
2. NPD / NPI Execution
Drive end-to-end product development (concept → prototype → production)
Support tooling pilot builds and manufacturing transfer (NPI)
Ensure alignment with quality cost and timeline targets
3. Engineering Analysis & Validation
Perform:
DFMEA / PFMEA
Tolerance Stack-up
DFM / DFA
FEA (ANSYS preferred)
Plan and execute mechanical environmental and reliability testing
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with:
Manufacturing / Tooling teams
Electrical & Signal Integrity teams
Global R&D teams & customers
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
5. Manufacturing & Process Integration
Strong exposure to:
Stamping
Injection Molding
Plating & Assembly processes
Optimize designs for mass production & cost efficiency
6. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain:
Engineering drawings
CAD data & BOM
Product documentation for audits
Ensure compliance with GD&T ISO ASME standards
