Job Summary

Our client is one of the leading MNC in the maritime industry with a solid international client base and offices around the globe. To support the growth strategy and its expansion our client is seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent (to manage Dry Bulk vessels).

Based in Mumbai India


Overview: Reporting to the COO you will be a key member in the onshore team in-charge of managing the operations of assigned vessels including managing cargo damage and other operational incidents.. Your key role is to ensure efficient and safe operations of the companys vessels quality management and that all international marine requirements are adhered to.



  • Key Responsibilities:
    Advise Masters and operational teams on complex cargo handling hold preparation ballasting and port-call risk mitigation to prevent cargo damage and loss
  • Oversee routine fleet operational reports weather routing and navigational plans to ensure cargo safety transit efficiency and transit compliance in High-Risk Areas (HRA)
  • Collaborate with the Technical Department to track vessel performance metrics evaluate operational data and drive continuous fleet improvements
  • Monitor shipboard drill execution and audit closures within management software verifying crew familiarity with onboard safety systems and company QMS protocols
  • Lead formal investigations into cargo damage equipment failures and operational incidents developing Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Translate findings from Port State Control (PSC) inspections and incident reports into actionable policy revisions to prevent operational recurrence
  • Liaise with shipowners P&I Clubs and legal representatives to resolve cargo damage claims operational disputes and third-party technical inquiries
  • Complete official operational questionnaires and regulatory declarations required by charterers owners and maritime authorities
  • Promote Health Safety Security Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) standards across all ship-to-shore communications and interdepartmental workflows
  • Evaluate senior officer performance identify crew training needs and manage promotion and appraisal reviews to maintain high operational standards



Requirements
  • At least 2 years experience as Marine Superintendent managing Operations for Bulk Carriers preferably with crane & grabs experience
  • At least 12 months of sailing experience as Master on geared Bulk Carriers is a must
  • Practical experience of managing operations and cargo loading precautions
  • Prior experience in liaising with owners and P&I Clubs on cargo claims are preferable.
  • Proficient in Shipboard ISM/ISPS code Marine insurance and Seamanship.
  • Excellent communication organization and multitasking abilities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and implementation

Required Education:
