Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Application Support specialist with 1014 years of handson expertise in COBOL JCL DB2 CICS & VSAM to support Billing Applications. The ideal candidate should be open to learning new technologies and AI tools.

Responsibilities:

• Lead billing production support by monitoring task performance coaching team members and providing feedback to developers and onshore peers.

• Quality Control: Assist in identifying and resolving defects; ensure adherence to quality standards.

• Problem Solving: Act as the first point of escalation for the offshore team and primary contact for business users; assist with implementing solutions.

• Training and Development: Leverage KT documentation to train new staff cross-train existing team members and support skill development.

• Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements that increase efficiency and system stability.

• Investigate root causes for recurring functional issues and propose preventive actions.

• Analyze business process flows and identify gaps or improvement areas in mainframe applications.

• Maintain detailed incident logs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents and functional SOPs.
• Provide timely updates to users and stakeholders on incident status and resolution.
• Prepare and share regular reports on incident trends SLA compliance and functional health.
• Document functional issues resolutions and workarounds in the knowledge base.
• Participate in modernization initiatives and explore integration with new technologies and AI tools.

Skills & Experience:

• 1014 years of experience in mainframe application support (COBOL JCL DB2 CICS VSAM).
• Advanced proficiency in COBOL JCL DB2 CICS and VSAM.
• Expert skills in debugging and troubleshooting tools such as FileAid Xpeditor and Abend-Aid.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools and production control.
• Proficiency in software configuration/change management tools (e.g. ServiceNow).
• Expert at writing complex SQL queries and using database tools like SPUFI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.

Nice to Have:

• Java WebSphere Azure Automation and AI skills.
