Mainframe Developer (Contract)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Developer to join our core infrastructure this role you will be responsible for designing developing maintaining and optimizing our enterprise mainframe applications. You will work closely with system architects business analysts and cross-functional teams to ensure high availability scalability and security of our mission-critical data processing systems.

Core Responsibilities

Application Development: Design code test and implement high-quality mainframe applications using COBOL CICS and JCL.

System Maintenance: Maintain optimize and debug existing legacy applications to improve performance and resolve production bottlenecks.

Database Management: Write optimize and manage complex database queries using DB2 and IMS DB/DC.

Production Support: Provide technical support troubleshoot batch job failures and resolve production issues in a timely manner.

System Integration: Collaborate with DevOps and modern cloud teams to integrate mainframe backend systems with web and mobile applications via APIs.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including system architecture maps workflows and disaster recovery procedures.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

Core Languages: Proficient in COBOL JCL (Job Control Language) and Rexx/Clist.

Online Processing: Strong hands-on experience with CICS (Customer Information Control System).

Databases: Deep understanding of DB2 (including SQL optimization) and IMS DB/DC or VSAM.

Mainframe Tools: Experience with utilities like TSO/ISPF Changeman or Endevor (Version Control) File-Aid SyncSort and Xpediter/Intertest (Debugging).
