The Role
TheLegalCounselIndiawill be responsible for providing legal adviceto support Payoneers significant regulatory and strategic mattersinIndia. The position is based inBangalore Indiaand will report to theSenior Director RegulatoryCounselAPACand SAMENA.
What Youll Be Responsible For:
Providing legal advice to assist Payoneer in the evaluation and management of significant and complex payments and financial services industry regulatory matters inIndia
Supporting theCEO Principal Officer and Nodal Officer of Payoneer India and theIndiacompliancefinance and otherteamsin the governance and day-to-day operations of Payoneer India which has received in-principle authorisation as a Payment Aggregator Cross Border
Corporate Secretary responsibilities including Board of Directors meetingsminutesand adherence to regulatory requirements
Privacy and data protectionlegal support
Supporting business marketingand other teams with the development of new servicesand initiativesand fostering strong relationships across multiple functional areas includingproduct andplatform teams
Contributing topositiveworking relationships withIndianregulatorssuch as DPSS-RBI FED RBI FIU CERSAI MAS CERT-Inand with industry initiatives such as the Payment Council of India
Researching analysing and determining effects of quickly evolving regulations inIndia and keeping current on issues and upcoming regulatory changes that may impactPayoneer in India andPayoneers strategic goals and objectivesand supporting the implementation of measures to ensure continued compliance
SupportingLegal andRegulatory Counselsin Payoneer and theChief Legal and Regulatory Officer in formulatingPayoneers regulatory and public policy strategy
What Were Looking For:
Fully qualified lawyer with excellent academic credentialsqualified inIndiaand with at least8years of post-admission experiencepractising as an attorney at alaw firm or relevant in-house legal department.Financial services paymentsandfintechindustry experience is preferred.
Experience working directly with regulators and regulatory authoritiesin Indiais an advantage but not strictly required.
Solid understanding of RBI regulatory frameworks with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements in a commercial context.
Ability to evaluate fact situations identify legal issues analyse and understand statutes regulations and recommend appropriate courses of action.
Ability to provide practical legal advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders on matters of significant importance to the company.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Ability to handle a diverse set of issues and provide a high level of service to internal customers in a friendly and professional manner.
An open communicator with skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
Flexibility for occasional travel.
