Lead Engineer- Land Development
Job Summary
Job Description
As a Technical Lead within the Land Development team you will:
- Support the lead engineer on the project on the end-to-end design and delivery of wet utility infrastructure including water supply foul and surface drainage stormwater management and flood mitigation across all project stagesfrom feasibility and planning through detailed design and construction.
- Independently manage smaller schemes within large projects overseeing the management of both dry (power telecom gas thermal) and wet utilities. This includes developing options for decommissioning rerouting and new network design; discussion with project leads and other sub leads in the project first level coordination with stakeholders; and supporting multidisciplinary teams to resolve clashes and prepare utility reports and federated models.
- Prepare and/or check grading and levels plans for plot sections ensuring cut-and-fill balance and alignment with access strategies in coordination with landscape architects and client teams.
- Prepare and follow basis of design with reference to the regional regulations and design standards while preparing high-quality hydraulic and hydrological modelling CAD/BIM coordination (Civil 3D WaterGEMS SewerGEMS) and preparation of Bills of Quantities.
- Assist the project lead in managing project programmes budgets and risks and collaborate with internal teams to ensure coordinated design delivery
- Participate in mentoring activities for junior engineers and support the immediate team with necessary training and upskilling. Work towards fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and offer assistance in training initiatives with focus on driving digital innovation.
- Work with the Subject matter expertise in the relevant disciplines to improve technical understanding progressing toward SME roles or Technical Authority for a specific technology area.
- Work towards chartered status (CEng/MICE or equivalent) and demonstrate proven experience in land development or major infrastructure projects.
About you
- Good understanding of system integration principles for multi-disciplinary design with solid experience in utilities grading and roads design and general awareness of supporting disciplines such as safety human factors and sustainability.
- Around 10 years of experience delivering projects within time cost and quality requirements with involvement across different project stages.
- Working knowledge of relevant international codes and standards (e.g. UK Middle East North America) and ability to apply sustainability considerations where required.
- Able to understand client requirements contribute to developing technical solutions and support technical reviews on medium to large projects.
- Experience in core project management activities such as supporting bids tracking progress cost awareness and participating in client meetings and technical discussions.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to handle moderately complex technical challenges with guidance when needed.
- Demonstrates accountability and can work independently on defined tasks while contributing to team delivery and technical quality.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills able to work with different stakeholders and adapt to new tools and digital ways of working
