Job Description Summary
All activities relating to enhancing services technology integrating customer data or capturing engines/products reliability availability maintenance safety and other performance parameters. Includes hourly nonexempt and exempt employees as well as manager roles responsible solely for these activities. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality volume timeliness etc.).
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for new unit installation / startup and other outage work scopes providing engineering response support for critical issues timely and efficiently
- Provide support and resolve in depth technical issues in Plant Electrical systems including Generator/Transformer/Breaker protection LV/MV Switchgear DC systems Power transformers Instrument transformers GCB Electrical enclosure Iso-phase ducts Earthing system and balance of plant electrical systems equipments
- Lead root cause investigations for issues with significant fleet impact from initial investigation through the corrective and preventive action phase;
- Assure all component designs meet requirements for customers;
- Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing sourcing services operations quality and design engineering to fulfill customer needs;
- Communicate progress across all levels of the organization depending on the criticality
- Travel to customer locations based on need to:
- Support customer technical discussions and present technical recommendations
- Support unplanned/forced outages to return unit back to service
- Extend technical support for the sales and services team
- Author knowledge articles as well as customer communications including TILs (Technical Information Letter) PSSB (Product Service Safety Bulletin) PSIB (Product Service Information Bulletin) and Safety communications;
- Actively engage in and contribute to global product service meetings to grow personal expertise in addition to helping further the overall global teams expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 3 years of experience on Electrical systems and combined cycle power plants
- Impactful interpersonal & networking skills proven ability to influence
- Willing to work in a collaborative agile environment in a global matrix organization
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity uncertainty with willingness to be challenged and show flexibility
- Experience and willingness to travel to customer sites to support commissioning or issue resolutions when such need arises. The position requires 10-20% travel both domestically and internationally for Business purposes.
- Willing to work off hours and weekends to support emergency issue resolution
