Lead- Design Engineer- Secondary

The Design Lead Secondary Engineering is responsible for planning reviewing and delivering secondary design work for substation and power distribution projects.

This role focuses on protection control and automation systems while leading a team and coordinating with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.

• Deliver engineering drawings and documents on time
• Coordinate with Primary Engineering for layouts space and interfaces
• Review primary designs calculations and support client approvals
• Prepare and review:
• Protection & control design philosophy
• Functional descriptions
• Define protection control automation and interface strategies
• Review and approve vendor documents
• Handle multiple projects and manage timelines
• Estimate manpower and plan work
• Review BOQ and support contract-related technical queries
• Coordinate with site and operations teams for execution
• Ensure coordination across engineering disciplines
• Support site teams with technical clarifications
• Evaluate vendors and support procurement
• Participate in inspections and ensure compliance
• Resolve design issues during project execution

• Strong knowledge of:
• Protection systems and relay coordination
• Control automation and SCADA systems
• System studies and calculations
• Experience with:
• Wiring diagrams and schematic drawings
• CT/VT and battery sizing calculations
• Secondary design tools
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes
• Understanding of substation layouts and equipment
• Knowledge of telecom interfaces in substations
• Ability to interpret technical contracts and support projects
