Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic entry-level Powertrain Assembly Process Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with 0-1 year of experience who is passionate about automotive engineering and manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will contribute to optimizing and improving powertrain assembly lines ensuring high-quality production efficiency and continuous improvement. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and grow within the automotive industry.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development optimization and continuous improvement of powertrain assembly processes for various components (e.g. engines transmissions drivetrains).
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency reduce cycle time minimize scrap and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for production issues quality concerns and warranty claims using structured methodologies (e.g. 8D 5 Whys).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineering quality production and maintenance to resolve manufacturing challenges and support new product introductions.
  • Help create review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) work instructions process flow diagrams and control plans to ensure clear guidelines for assembly operators.
  • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles 5S initiatives and other continuous improvement methodologies on the assembly line.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis using tools like Excel Minitab or other statistical software to monitor process performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of assembly equipment tooling and fixtures ensuring they meet production requirements and quality standards.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) reviews providing feedback to product design teams.
  • Support testing and validation activities of assembled powertrain units analyzing results and documenting findings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to process changes improvements and issues.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in engineering Mechanical/Automobile/Production/Industrial/Instrumentation/Electrical or a closely related field.

Minimum aggregate of 60% with no standing arrears/backlogs

Readiness to work from office (Chennai)

0-1 year of professional experience (internships co-op experiences or significant academic projects in a relevant area will be highly valued).

Should be a citizen of India
