Role Purpose / Mission

The R&D Applications SME is responsible for the ownership governance and lifecycle management of a portfolio of R&D and product development applications.
The role ensures platforms are stable secure compliant and aligned with enterprise IT standards supporting reliable product development and New Product Introduction (NPI) across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Application Ownership & IT Delivery

• Act as IT application owner and primary SME for assigned R&D applications.
• Define and maintain application standards configurations and governance.
• Serve as the primary IT Delivery contact for R&D stakeholders.
• Provide Tier3 functional and technical expertise for complex issues.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for systemic problems.

Governance Security & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with security policies audit and data retention requirements.
• Oversee access roles permissions and license management.
• Support access reviews audits and compliance activities.
• Maintain standard operating procedures and support documentation.

Modernization & Lifecycle Management

• Contribute to application modernization and platform migrations.
• Participate in roadmap and futurestate design discussions.
• Identify opportunities for simplification consolidation and standardization.
• Support archival and decommissioning of legacy systems ensuring data accessibility and compliance.

Continuous Improvement

• Monitor application usage adoption and licensing metrics.
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and technical debt.
• Improve consistency efficiency and user experience across platforms

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience administering enterprise R&D or engineering applications in a global IT environment.
• Handson administration of platforms such as Azure DevOps GitHub and selected AIenabled tools used in R&D environments.
• Experience administering enterprise collaboration and R&D application platforms (e.g. Jira Confluence OnePlan)
• Strong understanding of access management and security principles.
• Experience supporting applications across their full lifecycle.
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Clear structured communication skills.
