Position Summary
The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for designing planning and optimizing HVAC systems for commercial industrial and institutional projects. The role requires expertise in heat load calculations equipment selection ducting and piping design energy-efficient solutions and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
Key Responsibilities
HVAC System Design
Design HVAC systems including VRF/VRV Chilled Water Systems DX Systems Ventilation Systems AHUs FCUs and Exhaust Systems.
Perform heat load calculations using industry-standard methodologies and software.
Develop HVAC layouts ducting plans piping schematics and equipment schedules.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings and design documentation.
Engineering Calculations & Analysis
Conduct cooling and heating load calculations.
Perform duct sizing pipe sizing static pressure calculations and airflow analysis.
Select appropriate HVAC equipment based on project requirements and energy efficiency goals.
Optimize designs for operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Project Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with architects MEP consultants project managers vendors and clients.
Participate in design review meetings and technical discussions.
Provide engineering support during project execution and commissioning.
Resolve design-related site challenges and technical queries.
Tendering & Estimation Support
Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and technical specifications.
Support proposal and estimation teams with technical inputs.
Evaluate vendor quotations and recommend suitable products and systems.
Assist in technical bid preparation and project costing.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure designs comply with relevant IS ASHRAE NBC SMACNA and other applicable standards.
Maintain engineering quality standards and documentation control.
Conduct design audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
Recommend energy-efficient HVAC solutions and technologies.
Support green building initiatives and sustainability objectives.
Analyze system performance and recommend optimization opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy and quality of HVAC designs
Timely completion of engineering deliverables
Design optimization and cost savings achieved
Reduction in design revisions and site modifications
Compliance with engineering standards and codes
Project support effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction
Requirements
Educational Qualification
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Diploma or specialized certification in HVAC Design will be an added advantage.
Experience
38 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering.
Experience in commercial buildings healthcare facilities industrial projects data centers retail or institutional projects preferred.
Experience with design consulting firms EPC companies HVAC contractors or MEP organizations is desirable.
