Job Summary
Key job responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement sales strategies across all local theatrical releases ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and stakeholder needs.
Lead negotiations with local exhibitors to secure optimal screen allocations revenue share promotional commitments and access to premium formats (IMAX PLFs 3D etc.).
Release Planning & Circuit Development
Identify and secure optimal release dates for each title balancing local conditions with studio objectives.
Define and refine circuit strategies considering market segmentation seasonality and competitor activity.
Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and maintain strong relationships with LA head office local exhibitors data providers and other stakeholders.
Team Leadership
Provide clear leadership direction and support to the local Sales & Distribution team.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture that encourages growth innovation and accountability.
Business Intelligence Reporting & Financial Oversight
Lead the collection and analysis of accurate box office and industry data to support strategic decision-making.
Oversee distribution budgets ensuring financial discipline and alignment with film budgets.
Contribute to greenlight budgeting and forecasting processes.
Technology & Systems
Drive innovation in digital exhibition and distribution ensuring the business remains at the forefront of industry technology.
Trailer and Promotional Asset Management
Lead the planning production and delivery of trailers and other promotional assets.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines
- Knowledge of internet software and media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate or equivalent
- Experience in financial modeling P&L management or analysis or experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- 710 years of experience in theatrical distribution with demonstrable expertise across both Indian-language and English-language releases in the Indian market.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong lasting relationships with exhibitors circuits and industry partners with in-depth knowledge of the Indian exhibition landscape including national chains (PVR INOX Cinepolis) regional circuits and single-screen operators and exceptional negotiation skills across diverse market segments.
- Deep understanding of Indias theatrical release dynamics including Bollywood regional-language cinema and Hollywood tentpoles; festival and holiday release windows; censorship and certification processes (CBFC); and the competitive landscape of simultaneous multi-language releases.
- High proficiency in business intelligence and data analysis tools (e.g. Excel Tableau Power BI Rentrak) with the ability to translate box office data audience insights and market intelligence into actionable distribution strategies for both local and international content.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English with global stakeholders including Amazon MGM Studios international distribution leadership while also being proficient in Hindi and ideally one or more additional Indian languages to effectively engage with regional exhibitors and partners.
- Experience managing multiple internal stakeholders and advising cross-functional teams
- Experience with film performance forecasting and revenue modeling including the ability to project box office outcomes for both local and Hollywood releases using historical data advance booking trends and audience sentiment analysis.
- Inspires and drives innovation takes calculated risks and challenges the status quo including leveraging emerging exhibition technologies or reimagining how Hollywood content is positioned for Indian audiences.
- Experience in managing dubbed/subtitled release strategies for Hollywood content across multiple Indian languages with an understanding of localization best practices and audience preferences by territory.
- Established network within the Indian film industry including relationships with producers co-production partners talent agencies and trade bodies of India).
- Problem-solving can-do attitude; embraces challenges and embraces change. Thrives in ambiguity and can pivot strategy rapidly in response to last-minute release date shifts competitive clashes or market disruptions.
