Head Aircraft Integration
Job Summary
Define and manage the overall aircraft architecture ensuring that sub-systems (mechanical electrical software) work together without interference or performance degradation.
Oversee the Interface Control Documents (ICDs). The head of AIG is the final arbiter for "space claims" and weight/power allocations between departments.
Own the mass properties of the aircraft. The Head of AIG will implement recovery plans if the design exceeds weight targets.
Work closely with the Airworthiness team to ensure the integrated aircraft meets DGCA - VCA regulations.
- Digital Twin & Tools: Lead the implementation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Mock-Ups (DMU) to catch integration conflicts in the virtual world before they reach the assembly line.
Validate that major Tier 1 equipment (engines landing gear etc.) integrates seamlessly with the airframe.
Liaison with various stakeholders for arriving at optimal sequencing of the part sub-assembly assemblies to reach out for seamless and trouble free integration of the parts and LRUs on the aircraft.
Ensure Pre-installation checks of the LRUs and testing of the components at various levels to deemed fit for fitment on the aircraft and clearance. Trigger testing of required LRUs components parts etc at an early stage with the relevant stakeholders.
- Education
Bachelors degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Masters degree preferred.
- Experience
10 - 15 years of progressive engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
5 years in senior engineering leadership roles within an Aircraft OEM or Tier-1 aerospace supplier.
Strong background in aircraft systems integration and airworthiness certification.
- Technical Skills
Deep knowledge of aircraft design development and certification processes.
Expertise in structures systems engineering and safety assessments.
Familiarity with DO-178 DO-254 ARP4754 ARP4761 and configuration management practices.
