Job Summary
A Garment Product Developer translates design concepts into finished marketable apparel by
managing the entire process from tech pack creation to final production. They collaborate with
designers source materials manage sampling control costs and ensure quality standards are met
within strict timelines.
Key Education and Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (Preferred): in Fashion Apparel Production.
Diploma/Certificate Courses: Specialized courses in Garment Technology or Apparel
Production are valuable for technical expertise.
Required Skills
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of garment construction pattern making
grading and fabric performance.
Software Proficiency: Experience with Adobe Illustrator Photoshop and Product Lifecycle
Management (PLM) software.
Communication & Organization: Excellent organizational skills to track multiple product lines
simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Tech Pack & Specification Management: Create update and manage detailed Technical
Packages (tech packs) including sewing techniques measurements and materials.
Sampling & Proto Approval: Manage the sampling process from proto to pre-production
samples (PPS) ensuring designs meet brand quality and fit standards.
Sourcing & Vendor Coordination: Identify and approve fabrics trims and components;
maintain communication with global suppliers and factories.
Costing & Negotiation: Develop products within budget negotiating with vendors to achieve
target margins and cost-efficient production.
Timeline Management: Create and monitor critical paths to ensure timely delivery of
samples and final production.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers buyers merchandisers and
suppliers to ensure technical feasibility.
Common Performance Metrics
- Sample accuracy and approval time.
- Achieving target product margins.
- On-time delivery of product launches.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of textile dyeing and printing processes Strong coordination and follow-up skills Good communication and problem-solving ability Basic computer knowledge (Excel reporting) Attention to detail and quality focus
Required Education:
Diploma / Degree in Textile Technology or related field 15 years of experience in textile processing (preferred)
