Duty Engineer

Job Summary
- Ensure smooth operation of all engineering systems during the assigned shift.
- Supervise engineering technicians and allocate daily maintenance tasks.
- Monitor the operation of HVAC electrical plumbing DG sets boilers chillers elevators and water treatment systems.
- Attend and resolve guest room maintenance complaints promptly.
- Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations.
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms public areas back-of-house and plant rooms.
- Maintain all engineering logbooks shift reports and maintenance records.
- Monitor daily utility consumption (electricity water diesel LPG etc.) and promote energy conservation.
- Ensure all Fire & Life Safety systems are operational and compliant with statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping Front Office F&B Kitchen Security and other departments for maintenance support.
- Supervise contractors and AMC vendors during maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure availability of engineering tools spare parts and consumables.
- Raise material requisitions and maintain proper inventory of engineering stores.
- Follow hotel SOPs brand standards and safety regulations at all times.
- Ensure timely completion of corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Prepare daily shift handover reports and update the Chief Engineer on critical issues.
- Support renovation refurbishment and CAPEX projects as assigned.
- Ensure proper functioning of emergency equipment including generators UPS emergency lighting and fire pumps.
- Train and guide technicians on maintenance procedures safety practices and operational standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of engineering workshops plant rooms and equipment areas.
- Handle guest requests courteously and ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations.
- Assist in budgeting by minimizing maintenance costs through efficient resource utilization.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and disaster management drills.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering.
Qualifications :
- Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Electrical or a related Engineering discipline.
- 2 6 years of experience in engineering maintenance preferably in a 4-star or 5-star hotel.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC electrical plumbing fire & life safety and utility systems.
- Good troubleshooting problem-solving and team management skills.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance BMS/CMMS and statutory safety compliance.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts with good communication and interpersonal skills.
