Purpose :

The Director Commercial will lead the commercial function for domestic projects across India ensuring excellence in both pre-award and post-award activities. This includes developing and executing commercial strategies negotiating contracts managing risk and supporting project delivery to ensure optimal outcomes. The role also focuses on building and scaling commercial capabilities across programs of work while maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.

This position requires a strategic solutions-driven leader with extensive experience in commercial management contract negotiation risk assessment and project delivery.

The Role

As a Director Commercial with Worley you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc

Pre-Award: Commercial Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the commercial strategy for domestic projects ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts commercial terms and risk allocation with clients ensuring profitable and compliant outcomes.
  • Provide guidance to proposal teams on prime and subcontract structures commercial risks and contractual compliance.
  • Develop implement and maintain standard templates procedures and governance frameworks for contracts and commercial operations.

Post-Award: Commercial Delivery Support

  • Oversee contract administration change management claims resolution and commercial compliance during project execution.
  • Support project teams to enhance delivery performance financial outcomes and risk mitigation.
  • Review and ensure proper implementation of contractual obligations and adherence to governance standards.

Regional Leadership & Team Development

  • Head commercial operations for the region building capability and ensuring sufficient coverage for all projects.
  • Mentor and manage the direct report fostering collaboration accountability and professional development.
  • Implement governance frameworks processes and tools to drive efficiency and consistency.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary interface for clients during commercial negotiations and project execution.
  • Collaborate with operations project leaders finance and functional teams to optimize project delivery and profitability.
  • Provide commercial insights risk assessments and governance reporting to senior management to inform strategic decisions.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with corporate governance standards legal requirements and organizational policies.
  • Establish KPIs monitor commercial performance and ensure audit readiness for all projects.
  • Promote a culture of compliance risk awareness and ethical decision-making across the commercial function.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering Business Law or related field; MBA or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • 20 years of commercial leadership experience including pre-award and post-award activities.
  • Proven experience managing domestic contracts in energy chemicals or engineering sectors.
  • Strong expertise in contract negotiation risk assessment claims management and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing commercial teams.
  • Solid financial acumen commercial modeling and stakeholder management skills.
