Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of packaging solutions for medical devices components and related systems across new product introduction and sustaining engineering programs.

• Develop packaging concepts specifications drawings and validation plans aligned with product protection transportation regulatory and manufacturing requirements.

• Execute packaging engineering activities including material selection cushioning analysis palletization labeling and transportation validation.

• Collaborate with product engineering sourcing manufacturing quality suppliers and logistics teams to ensure packaging designs support operational efficiency and customer expectations.

• Drive packaging optimization initiatives focused on cost reduction sustainability standardization and improved packaging performance.

• Support qualification and validation activities including transit testing environmental testing and compliance documentation.

• Troubleshoot packaging-related issues arising during manufacturing transportation installation or customer use.

• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards regulatory requirements and internal engineering processes.

• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support knowledge-sharing within the team.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices across packaging engineering operations.

• Work closely with global stakeholders and external suppliers to execute projects within defined timelines and quality expectations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Packaging Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.

• Relevant experience in packaging engineering mechanical design product development or manufacturing engineering.

• Strong understanding of packaging materials transportation testing and product protection methodologies.

• Experience with CAD tools such as Creo SolidWorks AutoCAD or equivalent design platforms.

• Familiarity with packaging validation standards and testing methodologies.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and technical requirements.

• Strong analytical problem-solving and project execution skills.

• Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic engineering environment.

Desired Characteristics

• Experience supporting medical devices healthcare products or regulated industry environments.

• Exposure to global supply chain manufacturing or logistics operations.

• Knowledge of sustainable packaging initiatives and cost optimization strategies.

• Familiarity with ISTA ASTM or other transportation testing standards.

• Experience working with suppliers and external packaging vendors.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.

• Self-driven mindset with strong ownership and continuous improvement orientation.
