Highway Design Manager Road & Highways
Job Description
The Highway Design Manager is responsible for leading and managing the design and engineering activities for highway expressway road and transportation infrastructure projects. The role involves planning coordinating reviewing and delivering highway design solutions in compliance with client requirements national/international standards and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Highway Design & Engineering
- Lead the geometric design of highways expressways urban roads interchanges intersection.
- Review and approve alignment studies horizontal and vertical profiles cross-sections and corridor development plans in plan & hilly areas.
- Ensure compliance with IRC MoRTH NHAI AASHTO and other applicable design standards.
- Coordinate pavement drainage traffic and structural design interfaces.
- Prepare and review feasibility studies DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) and detailed engineering designs.
Project Management
- Manage project schedules budgets and resource allocation for design activities.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of design milestones.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams consultants contractors and stakeholders.
Technical Review & Quality Assurance
- Conduct technical reviews of design deliverables and ensure quality compliance.
- Verify calculations drawings reports and specifications before submission.
- Implement quality management procedures and best engineering practices.
- Ensure adherence to project-specific quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients.
- Participate in design review meetings presentations and technical discussions.
- Liaise with government authorities approval agencies and project stakeholders.
- Address client comments and ensure timely incorporation into design deliverables.
Team Leadership
- Lead mentor and develop a team of highway engineers designers and CAD/BIM professionals.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
- Support recruitment training and competency development initiatives.
Software & Design Tools
- Utilize and guide teams in the use of:
- Civil 3D
- OpenRoads Designer
- AutoCAD
- InfraWorks
- BIM platforms and other highway design software
Experience
- 1218 years of experience in highway and road design projects.
- Experience in NHAI MoRTH Expressway Metro Access Roads State Highway or International Highway Projects.
- Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary design teams.

This role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of road and highway infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and implementation.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Masters Degree in Transportation Engineering/Highway Engineering preferred.
- Professional certifications in transportation or project management will be an added advantage.
