DBA MSSQL server
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced MS SQL Server Database Administrator to join our support team. The ideal candidate will have 7 years of hands-on experience managing maintaining and troubleshooting SQL Server environments in a production support capacity ensuring high availability performance and data integrity across critical business systems.
- Provide L2/L3 production support for MS SQL Server databases (2016/2017/2019/2022) including on-call/rotational shift support
- Monitor database health performance and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact business operations
- Perform database installation configuration upgrades and patching (service packs/cumulative updates)
- Manage backup and recovery strategies; perform database restores and disaster recovery drills
- Configure and maintain High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups Failover Clustering Log Shipping Replication Mirroring)
- Perform performance tuning and query optimization (index management execution plan analysis statistics updates)
- Troubleshoot database-related incidents deadlocks blocking sessions and connectivity issues
- Manage user access security roles and permissions; ensure compliance with data security policies
- Handle SQL Server Agent jobs maintenance plans and job failures
- Perform capacity planning storage management and database growth monitoring
- Document runbooks SOPs and knowledge base articles for recurring issues
- Coordinate with application infrastructure and development teams to resolve cross-functional issues
- Support migration and upgrade projects (on-prem to on-prem or on-prem to cloud - Azure SQL/AWS RDS if applicable)
- Respond to and manage incidents/tickets within defined SLAs using ITSM tools (ServiceNow JIRA Remedy etc.)
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or related field
- 7 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production support environment
- Strong expertise in SQL Server installation configuration and administration (2014 through 2022)
- Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups Clustering Replication and Log Shipping
- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery models and DR strategies
- Proficiency in T-SQL performance tuning and query optimization
- Experience with SQL Server Agent SSIS SSRS (preferred)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (SCOM Redgate SolarWinds Idera or native DMVs)
- Understanding of Windows Server administration and networking basics
- Experience with cloud database platforms (Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance AWS RDS) is a plus
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation is a plus
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and communication skills
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts/on-call support including weekends if required
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- MCSA/MCSE: SQL Server (legacy if applicable)
- ITIL Foundation (preferred for support roles)
