Connected Vehicle Data Privacy & Compliance Analyst
Job Summary
As a Connected Vehicle Data Privacy Analyst you will play a critical role in ensuring that connected vehicle products comply with global data privacy regulations. You will translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable technical specifications enabling secure data collection processing and storage.
You will act as the key link between engineering legal (Office of the General Counsel) and data governance teams supporting end-to-end privacy compliance for connected vehicle platforms across diverse international markets.
Responsibilities
Privacy Governance & Compliance
- Support development of Terms & Conditions by defining data collection scope usage (primary vs secondary) and justification
- Manage approvals with legal and external counsel to ensure compliance across features
- Lead and support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) for new features and updates
Technical Translation & Data Governance
- Translate privacy regulations into technical requirements for data capture storage and usage
- Ensure compliance with global privacy standards (e.g. GDPR POPIA regional laws)
- Govern internal data access through tools such as Enterprise Data Platforms (EDP)
Data Request & Access Control
- Act as gatekeeper for engineering data requests ensuring alignment with consent and privacy standards
- Support internal forums to review and approve data usage requests
- Implement appropriate controls using tools like BigQuery and Power BI
Consent Management
- Support global customer consent flows for retail users through digital platforms
- Address complexities in fleet/commercial consent models including pass-through obligations
Data Sovereignty & Market Compliance
- Ensure compliance with country-specific data residency laws across IMG markets
- Collaborate with cloud and platform teams to maintain in-country data requirements
Third-Party & Vendor Compliance
- Work with internal control teams to ensure telematics and third-party partners meet privacy standards
- Review integration and data handling practices of external vendors
Incident Response
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams during data incidents
- Assess impacted data and support product-level response actions
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science Data Science or related field
- Business or Law background with strong technical exposure is also acceptable
Experience
- 5 years in Product Development Data Analytics Technical Program Management or Data Governance
- Experience in automotive connected vehicles IoT or digital platforms preferred
- Proven experience working between technical and legal/compliance teams
