Supporting concept development for vehicle development projects focusing on both interior and exterior areas. The objective is to devise technical concepts geometric solutions and design configurations as well as to prepare the technical basis for decision-making by project teams and management committees.

Formulation of conceptual solutions for interior and exterior assemblies

Development of alternative concepts considering packaging function weight cost quality and manufacturability

Conducting concept comparisons and evaluating variants

Design & Engineering

Creation and modification of CAD data

Detailing of concept designs

Integration of components and assemblies into the complete vehicle

Developing engineering solutions for packaging and interface conflicts

Documentation of design decisions

Technical Analysis

Geometric analyses

Collision and clearance checks

Tolerance and spatial envelope assessments

Preparation of technical decision-support documentation

Presentations and Documentation

Creating technical presentations for engineering reviews and management committees

Visualization of concept designs

Documentation of development results

Preparation of status reports

Strong expertise in CAD design with a focus on structured and parametric modeling

manufacturing technologies for plastic components (Injection molded parts)

Understanding of fixation parts and assembly processes

Very good skills in CATIA V5 especially in Generative Shape Design Part Design Drafting and Digital Mockup

Proficient in creating CAD models in a structured and parametric way

Experience participating in integration meetings and interface coordination

Must have technical skill

Professional Requirements

Completed degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or a comparable field

Several years of experience in automotive concept development

Experience in the interior and/or exterior areas

Proficiency in CATIA V5

Good knowledge of vehicle packaging and overall vehicle integration

Experience in creating technical presentations

Ability to handle work packages independently

Experience with BMW projects

Knowledge of BMW-specific processes and systems

Experience in early concept phases

Knowledge of variant/module concepts

Experience collaborating with design simulation and specialist departments Language Requirements

Preferred:

German: minimum level C1

English: business fluent

Rationale:

Participation in technical meetings

Understanding of German technical specifications (requirements specifications)

Preparation of management documentation in German

Availability

Support as a dedicated concept engineer

• CAD Design Engineer: Extensive theoretical background knowledge in the development of interior parts. Good skills in the use of the CAD system Catia V5 an 3DX especially in terms of Generative Shape Design and Part Design. Extensive background knowledge in plastic-based manufacturing processes. Strong communication skills for coordination with interface partners.
