Job Summary

We are seeking a technically adept 3D Specialist to support design scanning modeling and printing of orthotic devices (custom AFOs insoles braces). The role bridges clinical teams and production requiring excellent 3D CAD skills additive manufacturing knowledge and strong IT competence.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in Orthotics and Prosthetics or medical sales to leverage their expertise in a digital clinical role. The key responsibilities focus on working on 3D  strategies conducting product demonstrations and building strong client relationships. The role also involves working on camps collaborating with teams staying informed about industry trends. Attending industry events is crucial for networking and lead generation. This position is ideal for someone who is both technically proficient and has strong acumen.

Qualifications :

Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics (CPO) or a related technical field.

Techno-Commercial experience preferably within the O&P industry medical devices sector or a related field for min 5 years. Strong technical understanding of O&P products and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to interpersonal and communication skills with a knack for building rapport and trust.

Self-motivated and results-oriented with a passion for driving  and achieving targets. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events

 

  • Diploma/degree in Biomedical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Industrial Design or equivalent with 2 years experience in medical 3D printing or orthotics.
  • Proficiency in 3D scanning and CAD software such as Geomagic Meshmixer Fusion 360 SolidWorks or similar.
  • Experience with slicing and print-preparation software for SLS FDM and multi-material printers.
  • Strong IT skills: cloud-based file management (e.g. Google Drive/SharePoint) version control and comfort with digital workflows and basic scripting (Python/automation) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with materials used in orthotics (Nylon 12 TPU PLA medical-grade resins) and post-processing techniques.
  • Attention to detail good documentation practices and ability to work cross-functionally with clinical and operations teams.
  • Willingness to attend clinic visits for fittings and doctor meetings as required.

  • Capture patient anatomy using 3D scanning (structured light/photogrammetry/handheld scanners) during clinic visits and translate scans into usable digital models.
  • Create and modify parametric and patient-specific orthotic CAD models (AFOs foot orthoses splints) using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare parts for additive manufacturing: orientation support generation slicing nesting and file prep for SLS/FDM processes.
  • Manage print production workflows (file management printer queueing material selection QA checks) and coordinate post-processing.
  • Validate fit and function by collaborating with physiotherapists/clinicians during fittings; iterate designs based on feedback.
  • Maintain digital asset library and ensure version control for patient-specific files and templates.
  • Troubleshoot printing issues and collaborate with maintenance/engineering teams for printer upkeep.
  • Implement quality control protocols: dimensional checks mechanical testing when required and documentation.
  • Train clinical staff in basic 3D scanning and digital measurement capture methods.
  • Stay current on materials 3D printing technologies and regulatory considerations relevant to medical devices.
