BESS Lead
Job Summary
Position Overview:
AECOM is looking for the position of BESS Lead the position will review overall BESS delivery progress and monitor risk mitigation and recovery actions across battery containers PCS MV systems auxiliary equipment Fire Suppression Systems (FSS) EMS/BMS/SCADA interfaces and grid integration activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review overall BESS delivery progress and monitor risk mitigation and recovery actions across battery containers PCS MV systems auxiliary equipment Fire Suppression Systems (FSS) EMS/BMS/SCADA interfaces and grid integration activities.
- Provide technical governance and escalation support on battery safety OEM compliance warranty obligations performance guarantees testing requirements and asset availability targets.
- Coordinate integration dependencies between BESS renewable generation assets transmission infrastructure communication networks and energization schedules.
- Review commissioning strategies performance test criteria acceptance procedures and HOTO (Hand Overtake Over) readiness recommendations proposed by site teams and OEMs.
- Support key risk-based decisions related to BESS design procurement manufacturing transportation installation commissioning and operational readiness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards grid code requirements contract obligations and project governance frameworks.
- Facilitate technical coordination among EPC contractors OEMs Owners Engineer client representatives and project stakeholders.
- Monitor performance and readiness indicators and escalate critical issues impacting project milestones commercial outcomes safety or operational performance.
- Lead governance reviews for major technical decisions related to battery technology interfaces control systems and operational performance.
- Present consolidated BESS risks opportunities recommendations and decision requirements to the Program Director and Client leadership team.

Qualifications :
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering Power Systems Engineering Renewable Energy Engineering or related discipline.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Professional certifications in Project Management Energy Storage or Power Systems are advantageous.
Additional Information :
Preferred Experience:
- 15 years of experience in power renewable energy transmission or energy storage projects.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience with utility-scale BESS projects.
- Proven experience supporting projects through design procurement construction commissioning and operational handover.
- Experience managing interfaces among OEMs EPC contractors utilities and grid operators.
- Familiarity with international standards and best practices related to battery safety grid compliance and energy storage systems.
