Associate Systems Engineer Zabbix Monitoring Specialist

Job Description:

As a Zabbix Monitoring Specialist you will partner with various internal and external Airbus entities to deliver technical operational assistance to application and business units. Operating within an autonomous multi-skilled team you will be tasked with setting up Zabbix monitoring solutions across various assets and capabilities. Furthermore you will manage ITIL-aligned support workflows encompassing the tracking and resolution of incidents changes and problems.

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related discipline.

• Up to 1 year of internship/academic experience in IT.

• Operating Systems: Basic theoretical or practical knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.

• Networking: Familiarity with basic LAN/WAN technologies and a fundamental understanding of network concepts (IP addressing DNS basic routing).

• IT Fundamentals: Basic understanding of what servers applications and IT infrastructure are.

• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.

• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team showing a high degree of initiative eagerness to learn and determination.

• Automation & Scripting: Minimal exposure to or academic knowledge of Python or similar scripting languages. An interest in learning infrastructure automation technologies (like Ansible).

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) & AIOps: Basic awareness of how AI and machine learning are starting to shape the future of IT operations anomaly detection and automated alerting.

• Cloud Computing: Familiarity with basic cloud concepts (AWS Azure or Google Cloud).

• Monitoring Tools: Any academic or homelab exposure to monitoring tools such as Prometheus Nagios Zabbix or Datadog is a big plus.

• Agile Methodology: Basic awareness of Agile ways of working and ITSM tools (like ServiceNow).

• Learn and Assist: Shadow senior Monitoring Specialists to understand how systems and network infrastructure for business-critical services are monitored.

• Platform Support: Assist in minor configurations dashboard creation and daily health checks on the Zabbix Enterprise Monitoring platform under supervision.

• Process Automation: Work with senior engineers to identify manual repetitive tasks and learn how to automate them using basic Python scripts or DevOps methodologies.

• Documentation: Help document monitoring processes standard operating procedures (SOPs) and alert response guidelines.

• Incident Collaboration: Observe and eventually assist in the incident response process learning how alerting tools (like PagerDuty or OpsGenie) trigger actions.

• Explore Innovations: Research and present small internal presentations on how emerging tech like AI and basic automation can be integrated into the teams daily workflows.

Success in this role will be measured by your learning curve and engagement including but not limited to:

• Learning Milestone Completion: Successfully completing assigned onboarding trainings and foundational certifications within the expected timeline.

• Agile Participation: Providing transparent updates during AGILE rituals (daily stand-ups) on what you have learned tasks you are assisting with and asking for help proactively.

• Quality of Support: Delivering first-time-right execution on basic supervised tasks assigned during sprints.

Team Contribution: Active participation in team meetings asking insightful questions and bringing a fresh innovative perspective (e.g. suggesting a simple script to save time).
