We are seeking an Assistant Manager Strategic Sourcing to lead strategic procurement initiatives for key direct material commodities. This role will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies managing supplier relationships driving cost optimization mitigating supply risks and ensuring continuity of supply across global manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience sourcing Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies) electronic components wiring harnesses cable assemblies sheet metal machined components fabricated parts plastics and electromechanical assemblies. The role requires close collaboration with Engineering Operations Quality Manufacturing Planning and Global Supply Chain teams to support new product introductions supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for assigned commodities including EMS PCBA electronic components wiring harnesses cable assemblies sheet metal machined components fabricated parts plastics injection-molded parts castings and electromechanical assemblies.
- Identify evaluate qualify and develop suppliers capable of meeting quality cost delivery capacity and technology requirements.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including supplier identification RFQ/RFP management commercial negotiations supplier selection and contract execution.
- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key suppliers while driving improvements in quality delivery cost and responsiveness.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments risk evaluations capacity analysis and supplier audits to ensure business continuity.
- Drive supplier development programs and corrective action initiatives to improve supplier performance.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives through Should Cost Analysis Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) Design-to-Cost localization and productivity projects.
- Partner with Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to identify capable suppliers and support product launches.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Planning Quality Operations and Logistics to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Monitor commodity markets pricing trends technology advancements and supply risks to develop proactive sourcing strategies.
- Develop dual-source strategies and implement supply risk mitigation plans.
- Negotiate long-term agreements covering pricing lead times payment terms capacity commitments and commercial conditions.
- Monitor supplier KPIs through scorecards and drive continuous improvement in quality delivery cost and service.
- Support inventory optimization while balancing service levels and working capital objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies GMP SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Drive Lean Six Sigma and operational excellence initiatives across the supplier base.
- Prepare sourcing reports savings trackers supplier performance dashboards and executive presentations.
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management Mechanical Engineering Electrical/Electronics Engineering Industrial Engineering Business Administration or a related discipline.
- 35 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing Commodity Management Procurement or Supplier Development within electronics or manufacturing industries.
- Strong sourcing experience with EMS suppliers and commodities including PCBA PCB fabrication electronic components wiring harnesses cable assemblies connectors passive and active electronic components sheet metal machined components fabricated parts castings plastics and electromechanical assemblies.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier identification supplier qualification supplier development and strategic supplier relationship management.
- Proven expertise in commercial negotiations contract management and total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization.
- Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes PCB assembly (SMT/THT) wiring harness manufacturing CNC machining sheet metal fabrication injection molding and related manufacturing technologies.
- Experience in Should Cost Analysis Cost Breakdown Analysis Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) Design-to-Cost and cost reduction programs.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) supplier transfers localization and supplier capacity planning.
- Strong knowledge of supplier audits quality systems business continuity planning and supply chain risk management.
- Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems with a strong understanding of procurement and sourcing processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP Power Query Power Pivot and Macros preferred).
- Strong analytical negotiation and commercial acumen with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of GMP ISO quality systems and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- APICS CPSM CIPS or equivalent Supply Chain certification is an advantage.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a global cross-functional matrix organization and manage multiple strategic sourcing projects simultaneously.
